Th new Air Baltic Terminal is located just north of the existing terminal in a C-shaped configuration that can be extended to the south or the north by the addition of L-shaped pier extensions. All public functions are united under a curved hall, including the departure and arrival platforms. This simple spatial gesture makes it easy for passengers to quickly orientate themselves, find their destination, and complete a quick transfer. The wave-shaped roof of the building is clearly visible from the street and becomes the first landmark of Riga and Latvia for international travelers. The Schengen pier is located to the south and the non-Schengen to the north. The ground floor consists of a simple and efficient baggage handling system in the East as well as delivery, administration and technical areas. The building is shaded by a large steel roof structure and wide slats bands that run along the floor-to-ceiling glazing.
